Karim Martinez is an Extension Family Life and Child Development Specialist in the department of Extension Family and Consumer Sciences. Her areas of interest include social and emotional literacy, stress and resilience, mental health, equity and inclusion. Prior to her role as an Extension Specialist, Dr. Martinez served as a Family and Consumer Sciences County Agent in Doña Ana County where she provided outreach education to Spanish-speaking audiences in border communities including colonias. For her dissertation, Dr. Martinez researched bilingual Extension professionals’ experiences reaching Spanish-speaking audiences. Dr. Martinez currently serves as co-director for the NMSU College of ACES Equity, Inclusion and Diversity initiative.
